Dyslexia therapy and structured-literacy tutoring can be paid as tutoring or as an educational therapy, depending on who delivers it.

Rules that apply

  • Tutoring providers must meet the educator credential policy; a method-specific certification is one of the qualifying credentials.
  • Therapy is eligible when not covered by any government benefit or the child's private insurance.

What isn't allowed

  • Services already paid by insurance or Medicaid

In Houston

52 Houston-area approved providers list dyslexia or dysgraphia as a specialty in the state finder, and several Houston schools report dedicated reading specialists.

How to buy it

Log in to the TEFA parent portal (Odyssey). Pay your school or an approved provider through the platform, or buy approved products in the marketplace. If a provider isn't listed, it has to apply and be approved before it can be paid.
